I heard that the performance boost is great but that they can also blow up your engine in the future..Have they fixed these problems with newer models or is it still to big of a risk to take?

MR intake? I’ve only heard of cold air and short ram. And no, intakes will not blow up your engine and gives about 7-15 horsepower.
Short ram intake will give you a smaller gain than the cold air intake but is safer. But for this type of intake, your car will actually be SLOWER in the hot weather.
Cold air intake will give you a much better gain as compared to the short ram intake. But this intake stretches down as far as half your tire. So it’s pretty close to the ground. If you hit a big puddle on a rainy day, you will get engine lock because the intake will suck the water into your engine. and…. your car will be stuck whereever that has happened.
leave your car stock, because when you want sell it the depression will be much more.
